The EORTC is pleased to announce the next EORTC course "Clinical Trial Statistics for Non Statisticians" which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Brussels - Le Palace (/3 rue Gineste, 1210 Brussels, Belgium/), on 11-14 June 2013.
 
This course is designed as an introduction to the statistical methodology that is used for the design and analysis of contemporary clinical trials in oncology, including the assessment of treatments but also the investigation of markers of outcome and of treatment benefit. It will concentrate on the philosophy and understanding of the principles used in planning and conducting clinical studies and in reporting their results. A number of real-life examples will be used to illustrate the methods, their scope of validity and their limitations. At the end of the course, the attendees should be able to understand study designs and critically appreciate study reports./
 
This course is aimed at non statisticians (medical doctors, data managers, etc.) who are already working in the field of clinical trials and who have had an introductory course in statistics, or at statisticians with little or no experience in clinical trials. For those persons who would like a review of the basic statistical concepts, an optional half day introduction to statistical methods will be offered.
